This page covers everything: using the website, installing the software, your licence, refunds, and copyright. Our Privacy Policy is separate and covers personal data.
1. Who we are
Sonic Refine is a desktop application for audio cleanup and video conversion. It is made and run by Muhammad Saad Mueen, working alone.
Contact: support@sonicrefine.com
2. Agreeing to this, and your account
By downloading, installing or using Sonic Refine, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use it.
If you are using it for a company, you confirm you are allowed to agree on the company's behalf.
You must be at least 16, or older if your country requires it.
You do not need an account to use the free plan. You need one to buy a licence and manage your devices. If you create one, you agree to give accurate details, keep your password to yourself, tell us straight away at support@sonicrefine.com if somebody else gets into your account, and accept that what happens under your account is your responsibility.
3. What the words mean
- The Software — the Sonic Refine application and everything shipped with it
- Your licence — your right to use the Software under a paid plan
- Your content — the files you put in, and the files you get out
4. Free and paid plans
The free plan needs no account and no licence key. It runs the same processing models a paid plan does, so the cleanup quality is the same. It is limited in what it can output: fewer monthly minutes, one device, MP3 audio only, video up to 720p, a watermark on video exports, no smart reframe, and one file per run.
A paid plan lifts those limits by the amount shown on the pricing page, for the term you bought.
Every plan has a monthly limit measured in minutes of media. It resets each month, and the app shows what you have left.
Two things are locked in on the day you buy and can never be reduced: your monthly minutes and your device limit. Everything else a plan sets — formats, video height, watermark, smart reframe, files per run — follows the current plan, so if we change the plan, that change reaches you.
We can change prices and what a plan includes.
5. Paying
You pay in advance for the term shown on the plan you chose.
Nothing renews automatically and we keep no card details, unless a plan says otherwise at checkout before you pay. When your term ends, renewing is your choice. Renewing extends the licence you already have, so your key stays the same and your devices stay activated.
Payments go through our payment providers. We never see or store your card number.
6. Refunds
7-Day Money-Back Guarantee: If you are not satisfied with our Software, you may request a full refund within 7 days of purchase. After this period, refunds are provided at our discretion.
To request a refund, email support@sonicrefine.com with the email address on your account and your order number.
We may refuse a refund where we find fraud, licence abuse, or an attempt to get around the licence system or the usage limits.
7. The licence — what you may and may not do
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the Software on the number of devices your plan allows. We are licensing it to you, not selling it. We keep ownership.
You may:
- Install and use it on your allowed number of devices
- Use it for personal or commercial work
- Keep and sell what you make with it, owing us nothing
- Keep one backup copy of the installer
You may not:
- Share, resell, rent, lend or sublicense the Software or your licence key
- Reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble it, except where the law expressly gives you that right and only that far
- Modify it or build something derived from it
- Remove or hide any copyright, trademark or licence notice
- Deliberately fake or tamper with the licence check, the device limit or the usage counter
- Ship it as part of another product or service
- Use it to build a competing product
- Use it on content you do not have the rights to, or to make anything illegal or that infringes somebody else's rights
Keep your licence key private. Do not publish or sell it. If a key is used beyond its device limit or shared publicly, we may suspend it. Tell us at support@sonicrefine.com straight away if you think somebody else has your key.
8. Your files stay yours
Sonic Refine processes your files on your own computer. Your audio and video are never uploaded to us. We never receive them, and the app has no way to send them.
Everything you make with it is yours. We claim nothing over your input files or your output files, and you owe us no royalty or credit.
You are responsible for having the right to process any file you put in.
The Software does talk to our servers for a few things: checking your licence, updating your usage count, and downloading the processing models on first launch. The Privacy Policy says exactly what that involves.
9. Internet, offline use, and outages
Sonic Refine needs an internet connection. A paid licence is checked against our servers.
Working offline is fine and expected, within limits. The Software keeps a signed record of your licence and carries on for a limited grace period with no connection, so a flight, a bad hotel network or an outage on our side does not stop you. That period is limited and cannot go on forever. When it runs out, the Software drops to the free plan and its limits until it can reach us again, then picks your licence straight back up.
Being offline, being behind a firewall, or not opening the app for a while are all normal use and break nothing. What is not allowed is deliberately faking or permanently blocking the check to get around the licence system.
We try to keep the servers up but we do not promise they always will be. We may take them down for maintenance, and will give notice where we can.
10. Updates
We may release updates that fix bugs, add features or change how features work. Some updates may be needed for the Software to keep working with our servers. Updates are covered by these Terms unless they come with their own.
We may add, change or remove a feature.
11. What the Software is built on
Sonic Refine includes open-source components, each licensed by its own author. The full list, with the licence each is used under, is on our About page. Their authors provide them under their own terms, and our warranty does not cover them. Where one of those licences conflicts with these Terms for that component, that licence wins for that component.
12. Copyright and complaints
We do not host, store or have any access to the files you process — they never leave your computer. So there is nothing on our systems for us to take down, and we cannot remove a file we have never had.
That makes what you process your responsibility. Using Sonic Refine on copyrighted material you have no rights to may be illegal where you live. We do not monitor what you process and we have no way to.
If something on our website infringes your copyright, email support@sonicrefine.com with who you are and how to reach you, what work of yours you believe has been used, where on the site it appears, and confirmation that you own it or act for the owner. We usually reply within 5 business days, and if the complaint is sound we take the material down.
If you think the Software itself infringes your rights, email support@sonicrefine.com with what you own and your evidence, exactly which part you mean, and what you would like us to do. We take these seriously.
If you wrote an open-source component we use and we have not met your licence, email support@sonicrefine.com. We will fix it quickly. We want to get this right.
A knowingly false copyright claim can make you liable for damages and costs, so please be sure before sending one.
We will close the accounts of people who repeatedly infringe others' rights.
13. Trademarks
"Sonic Refine" and our logo are ours. Do not use them in a way that suggests we endorse or are connected to your product. Other product names belong to their owners; where we mention them it is only to describe compatibility, and we claim no association.
14. No warranty
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITH NO WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS. THIS INCLUDES ANY WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR QUALITY OF OUTPUT.
We do not promise the Software will suit your needs, run without interruption, or work on every system.
Keep your originals. Media processing changes files and cannot always be undone. We are not responsible for files that are lost or damaged.
15. Limits on what we owe you
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for:
- Any indirect or knock-on loss
- Lost profits, lost work, lost data, lost business opportunities, or business interruption
- Anything above what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim
Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Some countries do not allow the limits above; there, they apply only as far as the law permits.
16. If you get us sued
If somebody brings a claim against us, you agree to cover our reasonable costs and losses from it, where that claim comes from:
- How you used the Software
- You breaking these Terms
- You breaking somebody else's rights, including their copyright
- Anything you made with the Software
This does not apply where the law does not allow it, which in most consumer cases it does not.
17. Ending it
You can stop using the Software whenever you like.
We may suspend or end your licence if you break these Terms, if we find fraud or licence abuse, or if a payment fails and stays unresolved after we contact you. If we end it because you broke these Terms, no refund is due, and you must stop using the Software and remove it from your devices.
A paid plan simply running out is not this. When a term ends, the Software drops to the free plan. It does not lock, it does not stop working, and it does not delete anything you have made.
If you close your account, we may delete your account data 30 days later. Files you made are yours and are unaffected — they are on your computer, not ours.
What survives. Sections 8, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 18 keep applying after these Terms end, however they end.
18. Law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan, and disputes go to the courts of Pakistan.
If you are a consumer, this does not take away protections you have under the law where you live.
Please contact us first. Almost everything is faster to fix by email than by anything else.
19. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If a change matters, we will tell you by email or in the app before it applies. Carrying on using the Software after that means you accept the new version.
20. Odds and ends
- If any part of these Terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- Not enforcing something once does not mean we have given up the right to enforce it.
- These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about the Software. If the two ever disagree, the Privacy Policy wins on personal data and these Terms win on everything else.
- We may transfer our rights under these Terms if the business is sold. You cannot transfer yours without our written permission.
